Journeying Towards Hope Together

As a deeply committed and empathetic therapist, I am driven by my dedication to guiding individuals on their path to finding hope. My extensive experience working with diverse populations—including individuals, couples, and families—has taught me the significance of tapping into an individual's inherent strengths, even as we address areas of vulnerability. My therapeutic approach revolves around helping people transform perceived weaknesses into newfound strengths, revealing the hope that always lies within. That glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel? It's real, and together, we'll find it. Passionate about fostering positive transformations, I thrive on challenging, empowering, and uplifting individuals to break free from unhelpful patterns. To ensure effective and meaningful progress, I employ a mix of evidence-based interventions. Some of these techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Task-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. My years of hands-on experience have equipped me to address a myriad of challenges, from anxiety, grief, stress, and depression to relationship complexities, workplace challenges, and life transitions. While the therapy process is deeply introspective and can be intense, I believe in the healing power of laughter and joy. Building genuine, nurturing therapeutic relationships is at the heart of my practice. After all, therapy can and should be a space of both healing and warmth. As I often say, "it's always better to laugh than to cry," because together, We Got This.

Empowering You to Live the Life You Desire

Hi, I'm Nyisha, a therapist who is passionate about empowering others to grow and thrive. Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I learned firsthand how our life experiences shape our perspectives and impact our development. This upbringing sparked my dedication to helping people navigate life's journey. As a solution-focused therapist, I devote my career to assisting clients in developing healthy strategies and connections to influence their continued growth. When we encounter disruptions and challenges in life that shake our sense of self and worldview, it can be difficult to find our way alone. I partner with my clients to help them gain clarity and take action to move forward powerfully. With expertise in approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and play therapy, I help clients gain pivotal insights into themselves and their situations. My clients are able to leverage these insights to find solutions and take steps toward the lives they desire. I work with couples, adults, and adolescents facing a variety of concerns, including workplace struggles, relationship problems, lack of motivation, stress, anxiety, and more. My goal is to build lasting therapeutic relationships where clients feel empowered to create meaningful change. I consider it a privilege to share in my clients' journeys and witness their resilience. If you're seeking support to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals, I'm here to listen, encourage, and help you find a way forward. Emery Hanson

Counselor Intern

Empowering Steps to Authentic Self-Discovery

Hello! I'm Emery Hanson, and I’m currently pursuing my Master's in Social Work as a student at NC State. I'm proud to have earned my Bachelor's in Psychology with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of North Florida in 2020. I am deeply committed to cultivating a therapeutic space filled with understanding and acceptance, ensuring every client feels free to be their authentic self. I have a profound interest in art therapy and play therapy. I've seen firsthand how these unique methods allow clients to express themselves, especially when words might not suffice. They offer more than just communication; they're pathways to relaxation, joy, and deeper self-awareness. My expertise also spans into mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), both powerful tools in the therapeutic journey. My diverse experiences, ranging from working at a family shelter and Head Start to serving as a camp counselor, have granted me a broad perspective on various client needs. One role that resonated deeply was my time at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center, where I taught the "Safe Touch" initiative—a proactive program aimed at educating elementary school students about sexual abuse prevention. My diverse experiences, especially with young children, have shaped my passion for child counseling, though I am equally committed to supporting teenagers and young adults. I truly believe that healing, though sometimes challenging, is a journey worth undertaking. And I am here to walk beside you or your child, offering a supportive space to navigate emotions and, if desired, integrating the enriching experience of art into our therapeutic sessions.

Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Therapist
Clinical Supervisor for Mental Health & Substance Use

Empowering You to Thrive

I believe that prioritizing self-care leads to a more balanced lifestyle and can prevent dis-ease and dis-order. Many people associate self-care with hygienic practices only, but there is a lot that can be done to care for your mind as well as your body. As a therapist and yoga instructor, I incorporate a mind-body approach to my therapeutic work with clients. If you're ready to take a step towards self-compassion, you've come to the right place. I specialize in both mental health and substance use disorder therapy and use mindfulness-based practices, somatic work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients on their journey. I am available to work with you individually, with your partner, or with your family. Let's take this journey together and find the balance you need.
